    Premiership Goalkeeper Hails Adam Idah

On the final day of the January transfer window, Celtic announced the loan signing of Norwich City striker Adam Idah. The Irishman has signed for the Hoops until the end of the season.

It was a move few fans expected, and the acquisition hasn’t excited many. Despite this, Idah will get the full backing of the support as long as he is in a green and white jersey.

He has taken the number nine shirt and will be straight into contention for this weekend’s match away to Aberdeen. He may not start ahead of Kyogo, but one could certainly see Idah making his debut off the bench.

The 22-year-old will be aiming to make an instant impact in Hoops and adorn himself to the support early doors. Despite barely being in the building a day, it seems as though he already has a point to prove.

Current Livingston goalkeeper Michael McGovern, though, thinks Idah has all the attributes to succeed at Parkhead. The veteran stopper was good friends with the player at Norwich as he watched him come through the youth ranks in East Anglia.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, McGovern outlined his belief that the centre-forward could well make a mark in Glasgow: “He’s got everything you could want in a striker to make the top”, he said.

“I remember a game against Everton and he tore them to pieces, totally rag-dolled them.

“He just needs a run of games and a bit of love, somebody to show a bit of faith in him. Once he gets his confidence up, which is a really big thing with Adam, he starts to fly.”

It will be hoped that with Celtic, Idah can find that confidence and hit new heights. Particularly given Kyogo’s form this season, reliable competition and backup are needed up top, but it remains to be seen if the Hoops’ new number nine can prove such a player.
