Anwar El Ghazi has offered to play for Celtic at no cost after the Green Brigade showed their support for Palestine during the Scottish Premiership match against Kilmarnock.
The Green Brigade’s pre-match display featured a banner inspired by the Irish song “Grace,” which was also sung while the banner was raised, highlighting the recent devastation in the Middle East: “Think about the past few months. Oh will they say we’ve failed. 30,000+ dead – 12,000+ children. End the Genocide. End Zionism.” This act of solidarity caught the attention of many, including El Ghazi, who has previously expressed his views on the conflict via social media, leading to the termination of his contract with Mainz.
He took to Instagram, via Record Sport, tagging Celtic, and claimed he’d play for the club for free.
El Ghazi is still without a club.
Celtic do have their issues on the wing, with Saturday’s game highlighting the lack of quality in the wide areas. Four different wingers featured, yet, none of them could take on their man and make a positive impact on the game.
