The Championship club announced that Mowbray, who took over the reins at Birmingham City following Wayne Rooney’s departure, will be absent from the touchline for an estimated six to eight weeks.

Mowbray managed Celtic during the 2009-2010 season

Having joined Birmingham City just over a month ago, Mowbray celebrated a dramatic victory against his former club Sunderland last weekend, which was Micheal Beale’s last game in the dugout for the opposition, with his sacking announced on Monday.

During Mowbray’s absence, his assistant, Mark Venus, will take up the mantle of interim manager. Birmingham City and the wider football community have expressed their support for Mowbray during this challenging time, wishing him a speedy recovery and looking forward to his return to management.

Everyone at CeltsAreHere.com is wishing Tony a speedy recovery and are looking forward to seeing him back in the dugout in the near future.
