Celtic Rank Among Top European Clubs For Financial Transfer Activity

Celtic has been named as one of the 169 most active football clubs across the world in terms of transfer activity in a recent study released by CIES Football Observatory.

On Wednesday, the site released a report into the top 169 clubs across the world whose volume of incoming or outgoing player transactions reached over 100m euros over the past five seasons.

In it, Celtic ranked 82nd, their figure for sales and buys being 273m euros in the past half-decade. This puts them ahead of teams such as Galatasaray (248m), Spartak Moscow (227m), Olympiacos (194m), and Rangers (152m).

Over the last decade, the Hoops have maintained a net-spend of +33m euros according to the write-up, meaning the money they have received has outweighed what they have spent on transfers by 33m euros. For the past five years, this figure lies at 9m and for 2023/24, it is 6m.

Such figures make for intriguing reading. It is widely known that Celtic are in a positive position financially, these findings only backing up said point.

The club are yet to release their mid-term financial results despite it being mid-February, though, which has raised some questions over what the hierarchy think the reaction to them will be.
