Report: Liel Abada Bumper Transfer Fee Revealed

The reported transfer fee for Liel Abada’s departure from Celtic has been revealed.

Football Scotland reports that Abada will move to MLS side Charlotte FC for around £10 million.

Previous rumours linked Abada with a host of MLS sides, including Atlanta, and Austin FC.

It now appears likely that Abada will move to Charlotte, reportedly beginning discussions with the North Carolina side at the end of last week.

The Israeli is said to be flying out to the United States this week, with the finishing touches being put on the move, with only finer details to be agreed upon.

Despite earlier rumors of a transfer fee of just over £3 million, the report details that the final transfer fee will be closer to £10 million.

This would mean greater profit for Celtic, who paid £3.5 million for Abada from Maccabi Petah Tikva in July 2021.

Brendan Rodgers previously revealed that Abada was ‘not in the right frame of mind to play,’ it therefore appeared likely that the Israeli international would depart in the coming months.

With the MLS transfer window opening on January 31st and closing on April 23rd, it has given Celtic the opportunity to offload Abada and secure a transfer fee before the summer transfer window opens in Scotland in July.
