Former Celtic centre-forward and now pundit Chris Sutton has outlined the current Hoops prospect whom he believes can reach the pinnacle of football.
Yang Hyun-jun, who was harshly sent off in the Hoops’ 2-0 loss to Hearts on Sunday, has been praised by Sutton.
After returning from the Asian Cup, he has looked a revitalised player. Going into the weekend’s game at Tynecastle, Yang was on a noteworthy upturn in form.
He came on at Motherwell the Sunday before last and made an effective impact. Manager Brendan Rodgers then started him midweek versus Dundee where he was named Man of the Match.

Naturally, the wide-man got the nod in Gorgie and although he was yet again impressive in the early stages, penetrating Hearts’ backline and winning a penalty, his afternoon came to an early end.
Sutton, however, has a slight suspicion that the 21-year-old can make it beyond Celtic: “Yang has come back from the Asian Cup and looked a new player”, he said (RecordSport).
“I know he’s raw and inconsistent, but of all the wingers at the club, I actually have a sneaky feeling he is the one who could go to the very top.
“He’s got a bit about him, with pace and a trick in him. His final ball is still inconsistent, but when it works, it works.”
Much of the Celtic fanbase seems to have been equally impressed as Sutton by Yang over the past few weeks. Unless the club launch an appeal to his red card, though, he will miss the next two matches against both Livingston and St. Johnstone through suspension.
The squad should be deep enough to handle such an absence, but one can never be certain given some of the Hoops’ antics this season.
