Mikey Johnston’s loan move to West Bromwich Albion has provided him with a platform for more consistent minutes which has led to a handful of goals already.

Since making the switch to the Championship side on deadline day, Johnston has quickly endeared himself to the Hawthorns, contributing three goals in his first seven appearances. It’s fair to say there have been some crackers.
Before his departure, Johnston’s opportunities at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers were limited, with the player contributing two goals and a couple of assists in the first six months of the season.
The move to West Brom appears to have provided Johnston with the fresh start he needed.
Johnston himself has opened up about his decision to leave Celtic, citing the crowded competition for places on the wings at Parkhead and his desire for more regular playing time as key factors.
He told Sky Sports, as quoted by RecordSport: “Yeah, look it was just a game time thing.
“I think at the end we had eight wingers. It was always going to be tough to get the minutes I wanted to get and I wanted to build on last year.
“I am getting older now and I want to progress my career. This felt like a nice step for me and everything was agreed between two clubs, so it was quite seamless.”
