Liel Abada’s departure from Celtic was made official last night. The young winger joined MLS side Charlotte FC for a fee that could rise as high as £10 million (Sky Sports).
The move was expected. Manager Brendan Rodgers previously stated that the treble-winner wasn’t in the right frame of mind to play for the Hoops because of the ongoing conflict in his homeland.
His exit was formally announced on social media by Charlotte FC last night with Abada bidding an emotional farewell to the Hoops on Instagram. Celtic, however, at least on their social media pages, have remained silent on the matter.

No posts have been made on X or Instagram regarding Abada’s exit although just after 8 pm last night, a notice did go up on the official club website. The deal was confirmed by Celtic, and a rundown of his numbers and achievements in green and white was also given.
The statement was most notably ended with a wish for wellness to Abada: “Everyone at Celtic thanks Liel for his great contribution to the club and we sincerely wish him the very best for the future.”
It remains to be seen whether Celtic will show some activity on any of their social pages about Abada’s move. Since it was confirmed, however, they have already posted about the upcoming Scottish Cup tie with Livingston this weekend meaning the radio silence will likely continue.
