“I just feel so free” – Celtic Loanee Buzzing After Excelling In New Position

Celtic loanee Bosun Lawal has grabbed the headlines since joining Fleetwood Town on loan last summer.

The young Irishman has excelled with The Cods, but no more than since Charlie Adam replaced Lee Johnson at the helm. Adam, who came in the door just before the turn of the year, has moulded Lawal into a powerhouse of a midfielder.

For Celtic’s academy sides and also with Fleetwood earlier in the season, the 20-year-old played in defence. Since being moved further forward, though, his performances have taken a turn for the better.

Similarly, his overall mood has improved amid his positional alteration: “I just feel so free, and giddy – it’s good”, he said (Fleetwood Town on X).

“Me having the platform to show both sides of the game like you said, the defending side and the going forward side, I think it helps me a lot because I show more of myself, more of me as a player.”

When he returns to Celtic in the summer, Lawal will undoubtedly look to challenge for a place in the first-team. His attributes are different to what any midfielder in the squad currently offers.

A solid year out on loan getting regular game time is exactly what the youngster has needed rather than playing with the Hoops’ B team in the fifth tier of Scottish football.

Gaining real professional experience seems to have developed Lawal, and gaffer Adam has gotten the best out of his talents. It is comical that a former Rangers man looks to have benefitted Celtic in the long run.
