Brendan Rodgers has sent his best wishes to Mark Lawwell following the unexpected announcement of his departure. Mark, alongside the club’s leading first-team scout Joe Dudgeon, has decided to step down.
Having joined Celtic’s scouting and recruitment team in the summer of 2022 after a decade with CityGroup, Mark, who is also the son of Celtic’s chairman Peter Lawwell, has chosen to leave his role at Parkhead after a relatively short tenure of less than two years.

Rodgers, speaking about the situation for the first time, expressed his gratitude towards both Mark and Joe for their dedication to the club’s success, stating, “Mark and Joe have been integral to our recruitment efforts, tirelessly working towards the club’s success, and I wish them nothing but the best moving forward.” He told Celtic’s Official website.
During his time, Lawwell played a pivotal role in bringing 21 new faces to the club, working closely with former manager Ange Postecoglou to secure talents like Alistair Johnston, Aaron Mooy, Alexandro Bernabei, and Sead Haksabanovic.
He was also at Celtic Park when loan signings of Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Daizen Maeda were made into permanent deals.
There was too many misses when it came to his recruitment. Celtic throwing money away on signings who have failed to make the grade.
