Brendan Rodgers Speaks On Kuhn After First Celtic Goal

Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn scored the goal that drew the Hoops level in their 1-1 stalemate with Aberdeen this afternoon. It was a frustrating day for all involved with the club, although the winger will have been delighted to have opened his account for The Bhoys.

His strike wasn’t perhaps goal-bound, but it took a deflection off Nicky Devlin and it soon was. Many thought this was the turning point in the match, but the champions couldn’t muster much following it.

Kuhn’s first goal in hoops, coupled with Adam Idah’s impressive debut, were two positives from the game. When proceedings finished, manager Brendan Rodgers gave his thoughts on the former: “He’s still getting up to speed having had his break and a bit of illness”, he said (Sky Sports).

“He can add that threat for us in behind but also give us that option in behind or whether he starts or comes off the bench to get goals so it was good for him to get in and it’s something that we hope we can see many more of.”

In his cameo that spanned just over half an hour, Kuhn was not afraid to get on the ball and run at his man. He had some positive moments, and his goal is a testament to this.

The 24-year-old will be hoping his strike today is the first of many going forward, but there is no getting away from the level of concern regarding Celtic at the minute.

Their vast lead at the top of the table has concerningly evaporated over the past few weeks and months. One can easily envisage the title slipping out of their hands if things don’t get better.
