Celtic’s B team has recently showcased a level of performance that has caught the attention of fans and onlookers alike, particularly after overcoming a challenging period in the Lowland League.

Despite a sluggish start that saw them underperforming and navigating through a sticky patch, the team has rallied impressively, embarking on a five-game winning streak that includes notable victories such as a 2-1 win over Tranent Rovers and a resounding 7-0 thrashing of Civil Service Strollers.

This turnaround has propelled Celtic’s B team to 6th place in the league, injecting a dose of optimism regarding the young talents progressing through the ranks at Parkhead. The contrast between the first team’s struggles with quick transitions this season and the B team’s recent displays has led fans reminiscing about the influence of Angeball within the youth setup.

Sandy Clark, the manager of Albion Rovers, has expressed admiration for the way Celtic’s B team plays, saying: “I’ve watched Celtic’s B team a few times because I really like the way they play,” he told the Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser

“They’re so quick, so good at their transitions that they are good to watch, so it’s going to be a difficult match.”

Celtic take on Albion Rovers on Saturday.

Vata’s burgeoning talent has not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from a number of clubs across Europe.

In January, Italian clubs, including Como, Bologna, and Sampdoria, expressed keen interest in acquiring Vata’s services, but Celtic rebuffed these advances, choosing instead to commence negotiations to secure the teenager’s future at Parkhead.

These talks have since led to the offering of a new deal that would commit Vata to Celtic until 2027, a move that underscores the club’s desire to retain their young talent amidst external interest. [The Athletic]

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has taken a personal interest in the situation, holding discussions with Vata in hopes of persuading him to remain with the club that has been his home for over a decade.

English Championship side Watford have emerged as the latest club to express a firm interest in Vata, eyeing the opportunity to secure his signature as his current contract winds down. [The Athletic]

This interest from Watford adds another layer to the narrative, presenting Vata with a potential pathway to continue his development in English football.

With Celtic keen to retain their prospect and various clubs poised to pounce, the coming months will be crucial in determining the next chapter of Rocco Vata’s promising career.

This significant project represents a substantial investment in the future of the club, underscoring a commitment to developing talent at all levels, from the academy to the first teams.

The Barrowfield site, rich in Celtic history as the training ground for the legendary Lisbon Lions, is set to transform into a world-class training hub. This facility is designated to become the primary training ground for Celtic’s Women’s first team, as well as the Boys’ and Girls’ Academies.

The highly anticipated facility is set to open later this year.

Chris McCart, Head of Academy, expressed enthusiasm for the project, saying: [Celtic FC]

“This is the biggest investment and development since Lennoxtown and it’s one which the Academy is very excited about.

“It’s going to be a boost for all our young players coming through the club.”

Elena Sadiku, the new head coach for Celtic FC Women, shared her excitement about the implications of the new training centre for the women’s team.

“It’s going to be easier for me to sell this idea of how we want to be as a club, our vision, and help them to achieve something. It’s going to be incredible when it’s done.”

Celtic TV cameras will be following the world along the way.

Celtic B secured their second consecutive victory in the Glasgow Cup, edging past Queen’s Park with a 1-0 win on Tuesday afternoon.

The match saw the young Celtic side dominate proceedings, with Colby Donovan’s first-half strike earning them the three points.

Following an impressive start to their Glasgow Cup campaign, which was a 3-0 victory over rivals Rangers, the Bhoys were high on confidence.

With the lion’s share of possession and numerous opportunities created, the young Hoops were in control. Daniel Kelly and Rocco Vata, having spent time with the first team, significantly influenced the game’s early stages, creating several chances that tested the Queen’s Park goalkeeper.

The breakthrough came just after the 20-minute mark when Donovan found the back of the net with a well-placed low effort. This goal, Donovan’s first of the campaign, was a just reward for Celtic B’s dominance and set the tone for the rest of the match.

Despite a few chances from the home side, including a notable save from Celtic’s Josh Clarke, the visitors maintained their superiority throughout the 90 minutes. Bruno Davidson and Lenny Agbaire came close to extending the lead, with their efforts either saved or cleared off the line, emphasizing Celtic B’s attacking intent.

The win against Queen’s Park not only extends Celtic B’s winning streak in the Glasgow Cup but also positions them well as they approach the final group stage game against Partick Thistle next month. With two wins from two, the young Hoops are in a strong position to progress in the competition.

The young Hoops showcased their talent and determination, securing a well-deserved victory in this derby match.

The game began evenly, with both teams looking to assert their dominance early on.

Celtic started to gain the upper hand, with Cummings setting up Ure for the first significant effort of the match, although his shot was ultimately blocked. The breakthrough came in the 29th minute when Cummings reacted swiftly to a loose ball in the box, smashing it home to give Celtic the lead. Just two minutes later, Ben Quinn doubled Celtic’s advantage with a stunning volley, sending the Celtic supporters into raptures.

As the match progressed, Rangers struggled to find a way through Celtic’s solid defence, with their first real effort on goal comfortably saved by Clarke. Celtic continued to apply pressure, nearly adding to their tally before the break with a dangerous cross from Quinn.

The second half saw Celtic further extend their lead, with Bonnar slotting home from Mackenzie’s cutback in the 54th minute. The young Hoops maintained their intensity throughout the match, effectively managing the game and creating additional scoring opportunities, though the scoreline remained 3-0.
