Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his stance that Celtic winger James Forrest is the best winger at the club.
Despite one of the Hoops’ other wingers, Daizen Maeda, netting a hat-trick, interestingly Rodgers was full of praise for Forrest, who came off the bench in the 76th minute.
Rodgers said: (Viaplay), “My joy was complete when James Forrest comes on because just seeing that quality and how he receives the ball, and how he takes the ball, it was great to see when he comes on.
“With James, it’s not about quality. He’s the best winger we have, with the greatest respect. It’s just that intensity in what we ask in the game: constant runs, constant pressure.
“Sadly, age catches up with every player with intensity, but he still has a contribution to make. That’s like you seen today when he came into the game, 25 minutes or so. You just see that level of quality that he has whenever we are sustaining the attacks.”

Despite only playing 15 league games this season, it is clear that Rodgers is still a huge fan of Forrest and sees it more about managing his game time to maximise his effectiveness on the pitch than not wanting to play him.
With Forrest aged 32, it is interesting that Rodgers still sees him as the best winger at the club, despite Yang Hyun-jun, Luis Palma, and Marco Tilio all joining the club in the summer.
