Newly signed Celtic striker Adam Idah made his debut for the club in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Pittodrie. It was a disappointing afternoon for the Hoops, but the imposing centre-forward left a positive mark on the game.
Coming on for the last half hour, Idah provided pace, power, and physicality at the top end of the park, something his new side has missed in recent weeks. It was he who set up Nicolas Kuhn for The Bhoys’ equaliser as he completed a productive first appearance in green and white:

Many fans are calling for the 22-year-old to get the nod for Wednesday night’s clash with Hibs, and it would be fair to say it is a decision that Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t face much criticism for making.

He is only due to be at Celtic for six months, but Idah was very keen to come to the club. Indeed, Norwich boss David Wagner has admitted that the centre-forward was insistent on leaving Carrow Road. He said (Football Scotland): “We have to say after Adam made his point clear that he likes to go on loan, for me, what was clear, that when we can find an alternative it makes no sense to keep someone who is desperate to go on loan.
“I totally respect Adam’s decision and his thoughts. At the right moment, I backed this because our aims and targets are too high and we have to have a group who’s committed 100 percent. I got Adam’s point and this is why I backed this decision.”
It seems as though the Irishman was more than keen to leave Norwich. At Celtic, he will get game-time and the opportunity to win trophies.
Already, supporters want him to start after seeing him play for just half an hour, which is encouraging. There is a long way to go for Idah’s career in Glasgow to go either way, but the early signs are promising.
