Peter Grant Explains Why Idah Missed His Penalty At Tynecastle

Former Celtic midfielder and now pundit Peter Grant has explained why Hoops striker Adam Idah missed a pivotal spot-kick against Hearts at the weekend.

South Korean winger Yang, who was later harshly sent off, got brought down in the box within the opening 13 minutes. Idah stepped up and was denied by Zander Clark despite scoring two penalties in one game away at Hibs a few weeks ago.

It was the first kick from 12 yards that the Irishman had missed in his career, and Grant has served to explain why. Speaking on Go Radio’s Football Show on Wednesday evening, he said: “I think he’s just changed his mind at the last moment.

“I think he’s taken his eye up to the goalkeeper and he thinks the goalkeeper’s went the other way and he’s changed his mind and he’s mishit it. You can just tell.”

When the 23-year-old stepped up to the plate, Celtic fans had the utmost confidence that he’d net given his prior record. We all know what happened, though, and Idah’s miss undoubtedly altered the way the match played out.

Had he scored, The Bhoys would have likely been sitting pretty at the top of the table right now. Things remain as they were before last weekend, though.

The race for the title remains as tight as ever, and everything seems to be coming down to the two final league Glasgow derbies of the season.
