Celtic were rampant on Wednesday evening, running riot at home to Dundee in a 7-1 victory. It was a performance that transported supporters back to Ange Postecoglou’s tenure as manager of the club.
Fans voiced their approval of the display at half-time with the Celts going into the tunnel six goals in front. Former Hoops midfielder and club legend Peter Grant has admitted he had one disappointment from the game, however.
As things petered out towards the end of proceedings, Dundee had a few forays forward into Celtic territory. One of their last ended in a goal, young striker Michael Mellon rattling home at the back post from Aaron Donnelly’s deep delivery.
The goal meant nothing to the Dee, but Grant believes it could have key implications for his old team, and that is why he was so annoyed by it.
While goalkeeper Joe Hart made some crucial saves, he wasn’t able to prevent Mellon’s late effort that may prove pivotal in the title race: “Joe [Hart] has produced magic saves at important times”, said Grant (Go Radio Football Show).

“They can be the fine line and that’s why I was so disappointed with the goal at the end because it can come down to that, that’s how close it is at this moment in time.”
Rangers currently lead Celtic in the title race by two points. Things seem to get tighter by the week with the champions’ thumping of Dundee bringing the difference in goals between the sides back to just one.
Grant won the league with the Hoops on goal difference and although he fears it could come down to that this season, one imagines the final two league Glasgow derbies will play a significant factor in deciding where the title ends up at the end of the campaign.
