Callum McGregor has reportedly been ruled out for the rest of the season with a suspected calf and Achilles injury.
Daily Record report that McGregor will not recover from the injury in time to return this season, despite Brendan Rodgers previously stating that the Celtic captain could be back shortly after the international break.
With McGregor’s scan on the injury previously ruled to be inconclusive, it appears that a setback has now been revealed.
McGregor’s absence will be felt throughout the club, as he has proven himself to be a leader on and off the pitch in how he conducts himself and is undeniably the ultimate professional.
Celtic’s fixtures won’t get any easier with a trip to Ibrox on April 7th. McGregor’s experience in Glasgow derbies will be greatly missed.

The Scottish midfielder, who became Celtic captain in pre-season in 2021 under Ange Postecoglou, has thrived in the role.
Additionally, McGregor moved deeper on the pitch to play as a holding midfielder, with his drive and determination at times have led the Hoops through games when it looked impossible.
