Despite a series of challenging results since Brendan Rodgers’ return as manager, including an exit from the league cup and points dropped in league matches, Johnston’s confidence in the team’s potential remains high.

He’s well aware that the title is in Celtic’s hand, and it’s up to the players to march on and win it.

Celtic’s aspirations for their twelfth league title in thirteen years have faced hurdles, notably highlighted by recent controversial decisions involving VAR during their match at Tynecastle. Yet, Johnston emphasizes the unity and work ethic within the squad as key factors that can drive Celtic to success in the face of adversity.

Acknowledging the unique pressures of playing in a football-centric city and for a club with Celtic’s expectations, Johnston highlights the role of experienced players in guiding the team. He stresses the importance of focusing on the collective strength and determination within the dressing room.

He said:“There is still a really good group of guys who come in here and work hard every day and who fight for each other.

“I am really excited for these next few months, it is a chance to play our football. If we do that, anything is possible.”

He continued to RecordSport: “It is not always easy, especially for the new guys.

“They maybe haven’t felt this kind of pressure before and scrutiny from living in a city that is this football mad.

“The older guys are here for them. We just kind of block out the noise.

“All that really matters is what is in that [dressing] room and at the end of the day what is in that room is what is going to take us to the title or not.

“It is down to us, it is in our control. There is nothing more to add.”
