Watch: Maeda Strike Celtic’s Second Goal

Daizen Maeda has given Celtic the lead against Livingston again after Daniel Mackay hit back for the visitors.

After a Matt O’Riley right-footed shot inside the heart of the Livingston box was saved by Michael McGovern, the Irish goalkeeper could only parry it in the direction of Maeda, who headed past McGovern despite the goalkeeper getting a touch on the ball in the 22nd minute

Maeda has looked lively on his 100th appearance for Celtic, and the Japanese international has shown that when he is at the top of his game over the last two seasons, he is unstoppable.

This season may have been a poor one by his own high standards, but Maeda is certainly beginning to look back to his best.

Considering he has played a number of games off the right wing under Brendan Rodgers, he undoubtedly looks at his best off the left.

With Reo Hatate nearing a return from injury, their linkup off the left-hand side may prove vital in navigating the business end of the season, especially considering that each player has missed a considerable number of games this season.

Maeda is sometimes criticised for his poor decision-making when on the ball.

Despite this, he has proven himself time and time again to be incredibly effective, not only in scoring goals but also in assisting teammates.
